Red Deer Swap Meet
#77
Thats an awesome story. I have a 78 f-100 too. its only option is......well nothing its got a 302 and a 4-speed in it. our family has owned it since it was brand new. I drove it for a summer when I was 19 and got 20 mpg on the highway as well. I have people telling me that there is no way a 302 gets 20 mpg and I was starting to second guess myself. But now I have proof... thanks. My roomate doesn't believe me either.

Sara, the V8 was an option. 4 spd might have been too, I am not sure if 3 on the tree was available in '78 or not. Mine got 20 mpg all the time on the highway. I checked it several times in the presence of friends who were disbelievers (Chebby guys). Many , many highway trips between Calgary and LA. And, it was dead stock. Single exhaust, even.
Restored my faith in fords, big time.
Very funny, Dennis! No I am not a cereal killer. But i just got done filling in my revenue Canada forms, and it's possible I may become a Tax Murderer
