See if you have a Cottman Transmission Shop in your area. I just had my E4OD in my Bronco rebuilt for $1050.00 and a 1 year warranty or 12,000mi. It shifts really great and they also went through and did all the Ford Tech Bullentin Updates. I would highly recommend them. Everybody else quoted me $1800-$2000.00
We're all a bit slower to respond in the AZ chapter forum cuz we're usually yammering away in other forums (at least I am, I can't speak for everyone else). That's why the delay in your question. Looks like Dave got ya covered. I haven't had to get any work done on my tranny (yet, there's no telling when this thing is gonna die) so I don't have any experience from any local shops. Good luck!
