4X4 conversion
Hello:
I am really interested in buying this 02 F-150 crew cab. I live in Michigan, so I NEED a 4X4 for the winter. I was at the junkyard the other day, and I saw a 4X4 Expedition. I was wondering, would I be able to take the whole front suspension, axle the transfer case off of that, and will it bolt into my 2WD frame? I was talking to the guy, and he told me that 2WD and 4WD Ford truck frames are the same. I was wondering if there was any truth to that?

Thanks for the welcome. I joined a few months ago, but my account got deleted.
Also, its not JUST a CrewCab, its a Harley Davidson edition. :P I just didn't want to say that now, because of all the people saying that the transfer case, or the front differential wouldn't be abe to hold the power of the HD.

If you are really after the HD, and still want to get around in the winter, you could swap in a LS rearend (it may already have it) and toss on some good snow tires on some cheaper rims.
You'll beable to get around pretty good in straight lines, but you'll need to be conservative on the pedal going around a icy corner, as it the truck will want to swap ends.
This would be cheaper and easier that swaping a 4wd, and it would also get better mpg overall. This way you could still run your truck at the strip and not be the laughing stock of the town.
