How is the belt going to firm up the shifts? It just grips a little better so it doesn't slip during hard take offs.

Well, all I can say is from the 30 or so passes I've made with my current truck, the louder the noise from belt squeal, the slower my e/t's are. I'm sure other factors play into this but I haven't ruled out a relationship.

So then you are saying the slippage causes some type of power loss during that SQUEALING moment?

e/t's . . does that stand for Estimated Tire Squeal? I bet if you multiply the e/t's by the length of the belt you will get the number of barks per pass at WOT.

Guys I honestly don't know. Since I'm only at WOT at a dragstrip the traction is a little different than say, street driving. It could be my truck getting a lot of traction, causing an increased amount of stress throughout the entire drivetrain and possibly making the belt squeal. I really don't think a better belt will improve 1/4 mile times but then agian, the belt I have now is looking worn out and due for replacement, so when I do replace it I will use the best available.
