Exclamation HELP: speed 41 in 40 (no radar, used pace)

I got a ticket for 'speeding' doing an alleged 41 in a 40. he did not clock me by radar. he said he used his speedometer. I know speedometers have a + or - accuracy of a certain percent.

My question does anyone know what it is. I need it officially from a ford source. So if you are a ford employee or access of their records I would Reallyyyyy appreciate your help. Or if you can point me in the right direction, that would help greatly.

Thank You

Lee

i would say take it to court. there is no realy soild eveidence to convict you because there is no evidence now. its just like when you ask the officer to see the radar gun they have to show you. dont forget to mention that in court. also getting a lawyer might be good. it might cost you $100 to $200 for the lawyer but you will save more than that in insurance and fines. i feel confident that it will get dropped. what did he mark on the ticket that he clocked you with??

i have had several speeding tickets and have took many to court and got them dropped. so of which i was guilty of but i did not want the points on me so i took it to court and got it dropped. last time i got 2 tickets with in a week of each other. got a lawyer and he charged me $200 per ticket but he got them redeuced to with in 5 over the speed limit which is no points there for my insurance will not go up.

Only in Ohio or California would I believe this happened.
The judge should laugh at the cop that wrote this ticket though.

ONE mile over!!! The judge should laugh the officer OUT OF COURT!!!
From sheriff friends I have, 5 mph is pushing it most times. They don't want the hassle of paper work or the time in court to fight it(unless there is something more serious included-wreckless op or such).

I would definitely fight the ticket. Even a 2% error on a speedo is at least 1 mph. Something was crawling under the skin of that cop the day he gave you that. You were cure!

Columbus city police on sawmill road

I finally found Ford info on the speedo is calibrated up to 2 MPH.
I am working on finding the standard operating policies and procedures. with these two things I should be found innocent. Crisis over.

Wow. I cant even read with 2mph percisiion. My truck is only marked with marks every 5mph. If yours is the same I would bring that point up too. Man... I might expect that from a Dublin cop but a city cop - must have been threatened to get quota or something. Good luck fighting that one, but hopefully you wont even need the luck.

Lee614, not only would I contact Cheif Jackson, I would also file a complaint with the city and try to recoup my lost wages time and aggravation over such a rediculous claim by an officer that should know better than to tie up the court systems with such a blatant show of ignorance.

You have more than the right to hold that officer to the standerd that he or she is trying to hold you to. They say ignorance is no excuse to the law, WELL ignorance is no excuse to apply the law either.

Sorry to go on like that, but I just expect more from those who protect and serve, and they should expect no less as well.

Even a certified speedometer is off by about 2-5 mph. Tell the judge that air pressure in the tires (high or low) will make a noticeable difference in speed variances. Search for tire size info and print it off about the difference 1 tire size makes in the speedometer. Ask to see the maintenance records on the police car and when the tires were replaced and the air pressure checked and what the pressure was at that time. Also the outside temperature will affect the pressure on the day it was checked.

Also ask when the spedo in the police car was last calibrated and ask to see a copy of the calibration.
Unbelievable....
Best of luck.

that paticular officer is a lowlife and needs to get kicked off for wasting citizens time. i don't feel bad when i get a ticket because both of mine have been one at 65 in a 55 which was even a little unusual by a state trooper on a country road, and the other for 74 in a 50 when i was passing coming out of town. i feel anything over 10 miles an hour you are game for a ticket but for 1 mile per hour i would tell the cop off duty to find something better to do with his time. that is a true waste of tax payer dollars. jmho. did i fail to say i would take that lowlife to court.

NOT GUILTY case dismissed. My request for dismissal was so stong the prosecuter didn't want to try the case.

Important lesson learned.. DO YOUR HOMEWORK/ RESEARCH. All my research allowed me to have an awesome case. You need to know what their rules and regulation and policies they have to follow... and show the prosecuter that the officer didn't follow them.... case dismissed. Be sure to request the videotape the officer made, if it helps you.

You should still file a complaint or write a letter to the Police Chief and local council or mayor. Newspapers are good; no one likes publicity about stupid stuff. Enough complaints and changes get made.
