96 with 80-86 front cap

Im getting a '96 lightning and i want to put a 80-86 front cap (grille, hood, bumper, fenders). Is this possible? I know that most all other parts between 80-96 are interchangeable. I was wondering if this is possible?

First Welcome to FTE! Be sure to check out the Guidelines .

I have heard that you can put a 92-96 front clip on a 80-86 so I ASSUME you could do it the other way around. You will need to change the grill, fenders, hood, lights, etc. It should work.

Your best bet would be to find a donor truck where you can strip all the parts off. Just take your time and label your bolts; there are A LOT of them! Good luck!

P.S. That would be cool.....a 80-86 Lightning!

Good luck with the project and congrats on the Lightning!

There is no such thing as a 96 Lightning. Lightnings were only made in 93-95 and 99-04.

I've seen it done... it can be done but not without complications... you'll have to find a place to mount the airbox intake on the radiator sapport.. and the bumper mounts might need some work.. other than that it should fit. the front wheel wells won't match the rear wheel wells though.. 80-86 go in ..then out. 87-96 just curve out. but it's only obvious to major ford enthusiests.

You need the rad support as well, your current rad will work with the older rad support, you just need to drill 2 holes and run 2 long bolts (if look at how the rad mounts one your truck you will know what i mean).
