Notta, 110,000 trouble free miles.

I've never seen one go bad....And I've had my head under quite a few hoods.

I've just heard of them going bad.

I had one go bad. It was more my fault than anything. I spilled antifreeze on the block when I replaced my thermostat and it shorted out the cop on the number 5 cyl.

None yet, just the few that I have read about on here. I had a 6 tower coil pack fail #2 cylinder on my 96 Windstar though.

well...

I've had 3 go bad so far, the truck runs like coplete *** for a few days until it gets ****ed enough to throw a code out. I read the code, find out which one it is, hit the parts store (don't get them from Autozone, they are junk) and it takes me about 15 minutes from start to finish to put one in. The truck has 76k on it now. First one went bad at 48k. Oh, and to those of you that might think this is rare. Go to your local parts store and ask them how many they've sold in the last week. Advance sold 16 of them last week, 1 was for me. =P They are almost 10 bucks more expensive at Advance, but they seem to be much better units. I asked the guy at Autozone if he gets them back, and he said he's personally seen several of them come back. I brought one back to him 3 weeks after I bought it, and he was kind enough to give my money back so I could try a different brand from another store. Autozone guy said he thinks the ones they get are problematic for some reason. At least he was honest with me.

Could have been a bad batch. They are all made by the same company. We make the outer housing for them at work. No guts though

Just replaced #5 coil this weekend . $70.00 at stealership. Would not recommend buying cops aftermarket or any other electrical device.

6. Dealer found another bad cop and replaced.

i bought a 99 f250 sd 5.4L, and it has 78,000 on it now. when i bought it, i think the wonderful (scarcastic) chevy dealer had pressure washed it, as very shortly after i bought it i had to replace the # 4 cop. well, when i changed it, i realized that it was not a stock part, so i know mine is on at least the 3rd cop for that cyl. ow well, no probs lately........ as for cop's anyways...... now i have to tend to a bad caliper...

It's funny that water would short out a coil pack, like washing the engine or just driving through a rain storm. Funny huh?

We had a truck blow a coil out of the head... i guess that was more the spark plug blowing free and destroying the coil on its way through... but its broken now

My 99 F150 5.4l has 123,000 miles now and it's never had any engine or ignition related problem that was not induced by me. I had an issue with plugs because I used bosch instead of motorcraft and I had an issue with a loose vacuum line I had left disconnected. Mechanically all it's ever needed was brake pads and plugs.
