New here folks, How do I adjust the valves on a 1990 2.3L 4 cyl. Thanks

No adjustment is needed, you have hydraulic lash adjusters. If the valvetrain is noisy, one of them may need to be replaced or is gummed up. If you have a good OHC valve spring compresor (KD tools makes a great one that I use, I'll get the p/n off of it when I get home) you can try swapping them out yourself. They slide right out of the bores once you have removed the follower.

 

Thanks Bart99GT, I have just bought this truck and know zilch abt it. I'm use to smallblks. of a different make. I will learn what I can abt. this one. Info on the tool would be great, also could you direct me to some info to read up on pertaining to this procedure you talked abt. above, again, 4 cyl. is Chinese to me, thanks again

 

It is KD Tools 3087. Here's a link to an article on changing the valve guide seals on an SVO, but the same procedure applies for swapping out a bad lifter in our trucks, except you don't have to pull the valves out of the head. Just remove the follower, then pull the lash adjuster out of the head.
