I am being a faineant here at work today, since I think I am only 1 of 3 other people working in the U.S. today. Everyone has off but me, and I cannot get a thing done!

I thought that meant a very sharp and astute person...like, "Why, Leroy, I ain't got the faineants idea!"

However, looking back on it, I myself could have not been so faineant and just looked it up....

Now the hard part: actually remembering this new word, and being able to use it appropriately. I always have trouble w/ that...

That word describes me. I can just see the look on my g/f's face now if I used that word in a sentence.....

Never use a big word when a diminutive one will do!

Just don't be like this guy I used to work with; he's been using the same 'big word' as the word of the day for the last 10 years and it's getting a little old. Oh, the word is 'facetious'.

My parlance is usually parsimonious with words having multitudinous syllables and I admit I was somewhat perfunctory in my last rendering. While the rectitude of the word is unquestioned, your point is well taken. As a septuagenarian, I should know better.
