Post Speedometer Question

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Dec-01 AT 01:10 AM (EST)]I have a 1986 Ford F250 Diesel XLT truck and I need help with the following:

I have just changed the factory rear differential (4.11:1) to a 3.54:1. I need to know what has to be done to the speedometer, gear changes, etc.

If parts need to be changed, what are they? Where would be a good place to purchase the parts?

I find that it seems to now be reading wrong and I do not know what to do or what to get to fix it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Also I have a 1986 Ford F250 4.1:1 rear differential with sway bar, hubs and axles for sale. Where is a good place to sell them?

Post Speedometer Question

I am brand new to this web site and I do not understand what I should do.

It seems to me that you have an answer to my question, but I was unable to understand the answer which I read. Here is a copy:

"Speedo gear to fit the new 3.54 gears.

I think this answer was for someone elses question.

Could you please be a little more specific?

Thank You.

Waiting for a reply.

Speedometer Question

You need to go to an auto parts place > perhaps a Ford dealer and get the Speedometer gear that fits on the end of the speedometer cable and goes into the transmission that applies to the new 3.54:1 axle gears you're changing to .

Speedometer Question

Dennis,

Thank you very much, now I understand what you meant in your first reply. Sorry to be so thick sometimes. Thanks again.
