I recently purchased a 2002 xls/V6. Just last weekend i went to check what the correct tire pressure should be on the door frame sticker. To my surprise the sticker stated my vehicle as an XLT and only listed max pressure not recommended pressure. What gives?

 

oops....my bad...wrong sticker.....the one on the door does state recommended tire pressure as 30 psi.

 

That's just a recommendation for the stock tires and configuration. It's really a personal preference issue, but in or around 30psi(28-36) is where you will find the sweet spot on most applications with most tires. Added weight may require a little more pressure to maintain handling, braking, and ride characteristics, and front and rear balance in handling cna change with pressure differences front to rear. I found 30psi to be a little low on the stock tires for my liking, but run 29psi in my current set front and back, which seems to be the best compromise.
