I just received my Orings and gaskets from RiffRaff. In the kit there are 2 sets of Orings, one set black and one set green. When I removed my oil cooler, there are only one set of Orings on it, black. Am I missing something, or is my oil cooler missing something (extra set of Orings)?

The small o-rings are probably stuck inside the cooler header/ends. They usually slide off when you pull the cooler out and stay in there.

 

Well, had a buddy use his press to press the ends back on. I'm standing there watching and before he even puts much pressure, the filter end splits in half.
Things just keep getting better.

 

Been there... Done that...


Key is to make sure those ends are completely straight going onto the cooler. I found that a rubber mallet and a close eye helps with making sure that they are level.

I thinking I've got an extra filter end too, if you need one.

 

I guess I am just not patient enough. Already purchased a new one from Tousley Ford, I think. Thank you though.

Just so I don't have to order another end, is it easier to do one end at a time as opposed to trying to do both at the same time? I'm thinking this is where I went wrong and created more work for myself and more expense.

 

No, do them together.
I just saw a pic online someone used a small ratchet strap and pulled them onto the cooler.
Think I'll try that next time.

 

If you super lube up the o-rings and cooler ends they go in by hand very easy. It also prevents the o-rings from rolling.
