Hello New member! and in need of Advice/Help.

First off my name is will and im from Mankato Area
My first truck is a 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger
I paid $1000 for the truck, it has a 4 inch lift with a 400 motor on c6 in it. the motor has 140,000 since rebuild and the truck has a total of 240,000 miles on it.

I sold this truck to a friend when the motor was shot. basically i had it running just great on day. a friend wanted to clean the carb out for me so he did and then after long workin on fuel air mixture, ajusting floats and etc we finally got it to run good. After awhile i got it licenced and took it on a 50 mile trip which went great. but after that is when things got hairy.

was about to go offroading one day and i lost everything above second gear. i looked under the truck there was a BAD oil leak, a trans fluid leak, a radiator leak. basically the truck was shot, so i filled them all and it still ran great and the leaks started to go away. well im young and dumb and i went offroading anyways. It was a blast i never got stuck and i did have a few starter problems but we fixed them and made it back home. The truck hasnt ran sense and thus is why i sold it.

I sold it to a friend who has a 400 and a C6. basically i knew i didnt have enough money at the time to get it going again. But now is a different time. He paid me $500 for the truck i was thinking about asking to buy the truck back and his motor and tranny which hasnt been put in yet for $1000. The body has almost no rust and a newer paint job. its one of the meanest trucks ive seen. I am in love with it but i should just give it up

First i need advice should i buy the truck back?
Should i look for a different Truck?

And if im lookin for a different truck. Anybody know where i can pick up a 73-79 F-series complete pickup or almost complete pickup? i really miss the old ford and now i drive a chevy (yes im a traitor... how said) and what kind of money are these types of trucks worth? rust would be fine with me as long as its not too terrible. my spending limit is under 1500 bucks.

so heres an ad, WTB 73-79 F-series with 300/302/351/400 manual or auto doesnt concern me. Tire tread doesnt concern me as neither does rims. All info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading this very long post. Sorry about spelling. i Hate grammer and i wont fix it unless it seriously offends anybody or you cant understand it at all.

Thank you,
William Duffey

If you can do the swap, and he'll take a grand, buy it back...that's a good price.

If the body is in good shape buy it back. If you can get a good truck running for $1500 - $2000, you are doing good. Especially if you know the truck. Sounds like you won't be out to much. You might be able to find a used motor and tranny cheaper than $1000 though. I would think you could find a tranny from a wrecker for a couple hundred and a motor for about the same if you keep your eyes open. Depends on what shape his are in. If they are just rebuilt, buy them, if they are used, look around first.

OK, correct me if I'm wrong, were you talking about buying the truck and his engine and tranny for the $1,000? I assumed that was what you meant.

Well i just contacted my friend, hes a pack-rat and hes attached so new advice.

Im lookin for a 73-79 Ford F-series doesnt matter what engine from the 300/6 to the 460, whatever or not even an engine. I need something to start with. Local people seem to always want a arm and a leg for something rusted out with a crappy motor. So if anybody knows where i can pick up a truck within 100 miles maybe more... I'm intrested. My price range would be up to 1600 bucks i believe. cheaper is better i need to find something.

Hey
I didn't know you were here.
I also didn't know you sold it (for $500!!!). Who to?
I would've bought it for that price.
you should buy it back, I may have a 360/manual soon, I'd sell to you and help swap.
you need something soon springs just round the corner.
I even had mine out in the mud today.

oh ya btw this is Ben if you didn't figure it out.

Smile cheap ford truck

I do know where there is a 73 f-150 for $500. it is has a real nice solid body ,missing tailgate. A good running 360 motor and c-6 tranny. Tranny leaks.
I am a truck driver and i spotted the truck in thief river falls, mn. The guy said it would make back to the cities where i live as long as you kept fluid in the tranny. I looked the truck over, looks solid but does have some dents to work out. If you are interested e-mail me and i will give you the guys number.

yeah i sold it to my buddy jake, hes going to use it to pull his trailer, remember i still have my 93 chev pickup so dont worry about this spring ben. Also, i found a 77 F-250, decent body (gotta remember its a mn truck) well anyways, it has a 400 motor, No exhaust, 2 barrel carb, motor was rebuild 30,000 miles ago. its a 3/4 ton, so thats always nice, whats your guys's opinions? i just want a truck to have fun in! currently saving up some money to buy it and hopefully a rebuilt or new carb for it along with 33's and 8 bolt rims. Any suggestions guys?! thanks oh and ben help would be great once i get the new truck! if not this one maybe a different one!
