What does Ford do with the Trucks when they buy them back

I have turned in my 2004 F-150 4x4 supercrew lariat for a buy back to my dealer. I ask ,what were they going to do with it ,and was told it would go back to ford . I find that hard to beleve. If so I hope they have a big lot to keep them in

they probably fix them as best they can and sell them to companies as fleet vehicles and auction lots.

If Ford is anything like GM, they run them through factory sales (auctions). The dealers most inform any potential buyers that the vehicle was a buy back and usually give them an extended warranty. If the dealer sells the vehicle to another dealer or a customer sells, who knows if the information gets passed on. Theoretically buy backs show up on CarFax and the like.

Most states do not require the consumer be notified if the vehicle was bought back through the DSB.

If the vehicle is taken through a Lemon Law case then the title is marked as a lemon and notification is required. It is interesting that there are a couple of states that do not require the "lemon" tag after a lemon law buy back. These states are known as lemon dumping grounds.

The DSB buy backs are repaired and sold at auction or "as is" vehicles to 3rd partys who then repair and resell them.

When I turned my truck in, I asked the sales manager at the dealer. He happens to live about 8 houses down from me, and gave me the DSB number, so I actually believe him.

He told me that sometimes, they let the "selling dealer" keep the truck, repair it, and resell it. However, with my truck they were not even given the option.

Ford came and picked my truck about 2 days later.

I asked my friend, the general manager of a large ford dealership where I live, and he told me that ford takes them back, and ships them to different dealers and brands them "program vehicles". I was actually going to buy one.... before I knew what it was. It was a 2004 fx4 with 1,700 miles on it. It was listed as a "program vehicle" and carried a used vehicle warranty on it.

Go figure..

My family has bought two of these buy back vehicles. The company seems to do a great job fixing them. If FoMoCo did the repairs, I would not worry too much.
