I think if they would have made it an option by itself from the beginning, instead of including it in an expensive package, then it might have had a better chance. It is too bad to see it go as it was a good idea and I've heard mostly good things about it, except for when it needs to be aligned.

No, it was offered on 1/2 tons and 8600-lb GVR 3/4 tons. The major clinker in the 3/4's was no availability with a Duramax or a big Block, which really limits the appeal of that option to the towing crowd. Naturally, that's the group of buyers that had the most benefit from it.
I also see Chebbie offering the SS in a 2WD version. We seem to be bumping up on the outer limits of what customers are willing to pay for a pickup. I was wondering when that would happen.

I think that the Quadrasteer is a example of too much technology, too soon...Hence the extra $$$.
I would tend to agree with GM that the market was ready for something like this, but I would argue that the QS should be available across the board in all frill levels.
I also would bet that GM was hoping for QS to get some wings right away, but soon found out that it wasn't as popular as once thought. Then in a panic they tried to recover R+D in a inflated QS cost. Which ultimately lead to it's demise.
In reality, they shouldn't have tested the waters with thier toes, just jumped in instead.
