Wow!! Way too cool. I'd love to take it for a test drive. So that's what my truck might look like with tracks on it.

I could hear the conversations now!

"Hey, cool tracks! What's that stuff stuck in between the treads?"

"Thanks! The red stuff is a Geo Metro, the blue stuff is a Toyota Camray...."

I would love to have a truck like that! Imagine the places you could go......

Later,

Tim

I remember those! They were available for about any 4x4 you can think of. I wonder if they are available for my 61 IHC crew cab? I think the original use was glacier patrol. The track system gears it down roughly equivalent to a 10:1 ring and pinion.

Someone posted the link in another forum to the makers of the final tracks product. They look a lot better and they are also designed for speed. The have several short vid's showing the tracks on hummers, broncos, ford pickups, cheby pickups and such. They show how they work in mud, loose soil(most impressive vid), snow, rocks and such. Very very impressive, and the hummer hauled buutaie' in the vid, so I would think they can move pretty quick with the final product.

They must have added a planetary set in the hubs since I saw them. Or maybe different gears in the diffs? The small diameter of the upper sprocket makes the speeds comparable to having a tire only a foot tall or so.
