Air bag code 33, how to fix it?

Hello,

I have a airbag light code on. It is 33 which is: "Passenger Side Air Bag Circuit High Resistance or Open". It's great, but how do you fix it? It sound like a fuse? I don't think it would be that easy, but anyway I checked all the truck fuses and they all seem good. Any Idea? Thanks,

Michel

Michel,

Don't know what year and model of truck you have but here is the info from my service manual for a 99 F-350 but I would guess that the code 33 is probably standard among the systems.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND DON'T TRY TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE SYSTEM FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. THIS WILL ALLOW ANY STORED UP CAPACITORS IN THE SYSTEM TO DISCHARGE.

John

L: LFC 33/DTC B1933 - Pass Air Bag High Resistance/Open Ckt

Normal Operation
The air bag Electronic Crash Sensor (ECS) module monitors the resistance of the passenger air bag ignitor by measuring the resistance between Pins 14 and 28. If the ECS detects high resistance between these pins, it will store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1933 in memory and flash a Lamp Fault Code (LFC) 33 (or higher priority code if one exists) on the air bag indicator.

Possible Causes
A passenger air bag high resistance could be caused by:

a poor connection or corrosion in the passenger air bag module circuits.
an open circuit or high resistance in the wiring harness.
an open circuit or high resistance in the passenger air bag module.

Ney John,

It is a 99 f250SD. It looks like ford code are all the same.
Thanks , that give me a little better insight, but any more idea on how to fix it? Anybody ever had that code? Where are pins 14 and 28? Where is the ECS? I will look at the wiring diagram, I guess.
Thanks John!!

Michel,

Looks like the ECS is located behind the dash almost at center. Best way to find it is to trace wires. Look for a R/W, BK/Y, P/O into it and LB/BK, BK/O out. Hope this helps.
