1981 Tailgate Trim Panel

Guys - I'm looking for one of these in very good condition:

I have the XLT emblem, and you can see that I have the lettering if needed. But, I need the panel itself.

And, I'd like to find a chrome grill for an 80 or 81 rather than the one shown here:

Ray - It is dented right below the handle. And, since all the body panels are being "made new" I thought it would be nice to do the same with the trim.

Bruno - I'll check, but the last one I saw on there was for the 82-86 models with the FORD emblem in the center. I was hoping to keep it somewhat stock.

Yeah, that grill on CL was in Owasso. I tried to buy the emblem off it but he never responded. Actually, I would like to upgrade my grill to the 80 style as well as the clear blinker lenses.

GARY, HERE IS A WHOLE 1980 TRUCK! Got a good body and all the trimmings.

If you bought that truck I would buy lots of parts off of it.

The truck looks pretty straight and clean. And, it has several options on it, like the tach, locking hood release, under-dash lighting package, and cargo light. But a 302 isn't going to sell well (sorry) to those that know these trucks, and the add-ons to the engine suggest it might have been driven hard. In fact, the tranny problem says the same thing.

I sold an 82 very similar to it with a brand new 351W, good C6, and a new steering box for $2500. So, assuming the truck drives the way many of these do, meaning sloppy steering, by the time you subtract for the heated-up 302 and the problems with the tranny I'd say it might bring as much as $1500.

If it sits on craigslist very long it might get picked up cheaper.

Agree. Have you looked to see how long it has been on, or how many times it has been listed?

Actually, my $1500 was the max I thought you might get if you bought it and flipped it.

Thanks for looking for me. Have you noticed the guys VW's on the street coming to my house? The street is Lenapah and its the one you turn onto off of 20 at the Sinclair station. He has several sitting there and they don't say "for sale", but who knows?

There is a pretty good sized Vdub graveyard between Bristow and Okemah. I saw it when I was heading out there to bid a job.

Yes, I have noticed his westfalia and beetles. They all look very nice also. I might stop in there one day on my way over to your place.
