clutch adjustment
I just bought a 1996 f-250 w/ powerstroke. It has a 5 speed manual tranny that is hard to shift into 1st and reverse. I thought the clutch needed adjustment because when I shift into any gear , the tranny engages before the clutch pedal is 1/4 inch off the floor. But there is no adjustment on the slave cylinder. How do you do it?

donhall , there isn't any adjustment in the clutch . Most likely it's like Itfox said , it's a white ( sometimes black ) plastic bushing on the clutck linkage where the pivit fits into the rod . $ 10. at ford ( used to be $3. ) . There is a permanant fix useing a hiem joint I know someone is selling on ebay for $40.
