The feedback solenoid on my 1984 F150 truck keeps clicking after I turn off the ignition. This makes for a dead battery by the next day. If i cut off the electricity by unplugging the solenoid overnight all is ok.

Is the electrical short in the solenoid or somewhere else. can I please have some advice about fixing this situation.

I would try wiggling the ignition key to make sure it is seated in the off position.

 

 

I've had this problem for, maybe the last 5 years...!!! The solenoid keeps clicking - sometimes very slowly every 1 minute or so and sometimes quit rapidly. The battery ends up dead within 24 hours. Everywhere I go I pop the hood and twist off one of the battery terminals. I've even made a little hanger to hold the loose battery lead while it's disconnected. I've taken this solenoid off the carb more than once and even taken it apart to try and fix it but maybe it's not a problem in the solenoid but an electrical signal from something else? I also have a continual gasolene smell in the engine compartment...

I would dearly love to fix this.... Please, does anyone have any insight into this issue?
