Any Thoughts On Downsizing From An F-250 to An F-150?

I traded a 2001 F250 Super Duty for my 04 FX4 F150 I love the ride. My Super Duty was a 5.4 so the 04 150 seems more powerfull. seems to tow better than my Super Duty did. I say give one a try, its only a year. The only thing I miss about the Super Duty is the seat. The 150 , not quite as comfortable.

I am having a similar problem. I am transitioning from an SUV to a p-up. I was all set to get an 05 f250 PSD King R, until I saw the f150 King. Now I am undecided. My towning neds are 5 to 6000. It'll be a daily driver, and I may put a plow on. I ws concerned about ride, until I heard the 05's don't ride like the 250's of the past, why is that? Also I figured city mpg's would be better in the 150, even though its gas. I know I need to drive the 2 of them, but any other insight?

agtkgv, They have changed the front suspension on the 05 model from a leaf spring (like in the rear) to a coil spring. The suspension kind of looks like that of a 86-96 Full size pick up but with a true straight axle. Those leaf springs were stiff and made for a rough ride but those coils smooth out the ride tremendously. I just drove one the other day, much better than my buddies 03 F-250 Scab. Oh by the way those Rancho shocks are a pretty stiff shock so that makes it a little rougher too.

Yeah, I'll have to test 'em both out again. I have never driven a 2005 Super, but they say the coil front suspension added in 2005 is smooth, and the smaller turning radius is sweet. I personally like the F-150 ride, but these winter washboard roads remind me I am driving a truck that could carry an F-150. Don't get me wron, I love my 2004 F-250 Crew Cab PSD, but sometimes I just get to thinkin' too much.
As for the mileage, a 5.8L in an F-150 may see an average of 15-16 from what I've been reading, where a 6.0L diesel in an F-250 will get about 17-18. Mine does. Some are crabbing their smokers are only getting 14mpg. Then again, some 5.4L owners are complaining about 12mpg, too. With current fuel prices, the diesel does not really put you that far ahead in fuel savings if you are just driving. Now hauling, that's a different story. The diesel will walk away from the 150 with the same load - torque, speed, and economy. Notice I didn't say blow away.
Lastly, I have had five Super Duties, and handling has never been anything other than like riding on rails - especially for a vehicle approaching 8,000# versus 6,500#. Body roll has been very minimal, although an F-150 might excel here because of the outward shock placement and tire size in relation to the vehicle weight an proportion. Just a guess here, though. Like I said above in this thread, whatever I drive is 95% carrying my kiester only, so a smoker Super is not necessity. But once you have that candy bar, ahhhh, the sweet tooth is always begging for more. It's a sickness. That is one of the reasons I'd like an F-150. I'd probably just exhaust it (duals) and leave it, where another PSD digs deeper in the pocket!
