E350 / F350 Components?

02/07/2005

Hello all!

This is my first post here...

I just recently received a 2000 E350 V10 4X4. Can anyone tell me how many of the components and hopups will interchange between E350 and F350. My main interests are shocks and brakes. Both axles appear to be Dana 60's with 3.73 gears. I'm not sure what auto tranny is in it yet or the Transfer case.

So far I'm really happy with it, it has been setting for awhile so I still have a few things to straighten up. But I don't think the front Shocks on this thing are installed correctly or they are the wrong shocks. The front suspension is live axle leaf springs...

Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ed "Hibrass" Harley

Welcome to the site!

The brakes and wheels won't interchange with the superdutys due to the meric bolt pattern the trucks use. The trucks also use a Sterling rear end. You should be able to swap front axle parts with 90's model f-350s. Shocks are highly unlikely. You should call the 4x4 conversion company and get all the #s for the parts that they installed and find out what the original applications were.

Kaleo,

Now I'm reaaly confused... Ford did the conversion. The axle is a Dana 60 straight on Leaf springs... The wheels are 8 lug 16.5 from a Dodge.. (LOL they were free...) This is getting more and more interesting. A local 4X4 shop is going to sort out the proper shock so that question is under control.

But I'm still curious about the front disks... Is there a way to tell if they are from an 2000 E350 or F350? Or is there any difference??

Thanks,

Hibrass

I haven't heard of any 4x4 vans Ford built themselves. They are usually shipped thru authorized conversions shops. The shops typically use all Ford parts except for some custom brackets. I would search the vans for any rating or certification sticker/plate that may have the conversion company's name on it. Mine has a sticker in the door jamb that has Quigley's initials on it.

You say you have leaf springs, so I would say it's not a Quigley. Most likely it's Advance Four Wheel Drive, Salem-Kroger, or Clydesdale. Possible Sportsmobile, but I don't think they offered their leaf sprung units in '00.

Dana 60 may have come from '00 F-series, but due to the metric bolt pattern (8 on 170mm) the brake rotor/hub would have been swapped to fit the standard 8 on 6.5" wheels you are using.

Worst case scenario is getting the #s off all the parts you need and having them cross referenced. Just remember to keep the #s written down some where for the next time.

Kaleo,

Well it's amazing what you can find with a little digging....

The van was converted by "Tulsa Trucks" in Tulsa Ok. They did use a 2000 Ford Dana Axle from a SD. The transfer case is a BW 1756, I not familar with this case. Do you know anything about it??

This is getting more and more fun!

Thanks,

Hibrass

Can't say I've heard of a 1756. Must be a typo or miscommunication. 1356 is the most common used in the Ford conversions.

You still need to double check on the brakes. Axles could come from the SD, but you can't bolt standard 8 on 6.5" wheels on them without swapping bolt patterns. That means the rotor and hub had to be changed or re-drilled.
