unleaded restrictor part
Gentlemen:
I need to replace my unleaded restrictor device located in the neck of the tube that leads to my gas tank. I need it to have it inspected, and the previous owner(s) must have removed it.
Do any of you guys know were to get one? I've tried junk yards, napa, etc. -- no luck.
Thanks.

Is it required for the inspection? I have not seen "regular" leaded gas at the gas stations around here for at least the last 20 years. It is not like you are going to start using it.
I would think that you should be able to find one at a junk yard. You may have to replace the whole filler neck, but that is a simple job.

The nozzle restrictor IS part of many state emissions inspections. Leaded fuel isn't an issue anymore, but filling it with diesel is.... holy smokescreen, Batman! It seems to me I have run across repair pieces for these things in one of my catalogs, either Motormite (aka Help!) or Balkamp when I worked for NAPA.... I'll poke around at work tomorrow and let you know if anything turns up.....

OK, I just ran up to the shop and dug out my NAPA Balkamp book. There are three "gas tank resizers" listed... If your neck is just shy of 2", ask for 730-2936.... just over 2", try 730-2937..... and if the neck is just over 2 1/4", then you need 730-2938. These just shove down in the neck, no tools required.... and when you go back to your local NAPA, ask for a copy of the Balkamp PSA book (the color one). There is some really amazing stuff in there! If the guy tells you he only has one copy, tell him to give you that one, since he obviously doesn't know how to use it effectively! It took me longer to find the catalog in my shop than it took me to find the resizer once I opened the book! TomD
