I am having problems with the after market motor mounts. I have tried several none of them will line up. I have a 81 F-100 stepside. has any one else ran in to this problem. The number that is on the old one doesn't even match to a ford number even though it has ford written on it.

 

What exactly are you trying to do? Just replace the motor mounts or are you changing to a different engine?

Stamping numbers are NOT the parts numbers.

If you buy a part,the Part number is usually on a tag or a sticker.

The stamping number is an ID number.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Apr-02 AT 03:09 PM (EST)]Then I guess my next question is when you say they wont line up, do you mean once installed on the engine they don't fit back into the frame brackets like the old ones did? Since you should have one of the old ones off, compare the old to the new one. If need be take the old one with you when you go back to the store. I've never had a problem buying motor mounts from after market stores.
