depends on what engine you have. I have a 2004 Edge 4x4 4dr with 4.0l and automatic tranny, 4.10 gears and I get about 15 around town and traffic and around 21 on the highway....about 18 usually on mixed driving and how much I put my foot into it.

I've tracked the mileage in my '03 XLT 4x4 4.0L since I bought it. The best mileage it has gotten on one tank of fuel, on the highway on a warm day, was 25 mpg. The worst, a week of in town driving during winter, was 13 mpg. Overall, the average is 18.57 mpg. Highway driving averages 21 mpg, city driving 16.

Winter mileage drops like a rock, summer highway best is about 21, city best is about 16-17.

I get the same as Oregon ... I own a 2000 Ranger 4.0l Supercab 4Dr 4x4
A little reminder ... 2000 Rangers had the 4.0l 160hp ... in 2001 they got an OHC 4.0l rated at 200hp. Something you may want to consider, and as evident by some posts here ... the gas mileage didn't get any worse.
