Question 1967-72 ford f100 fiberglass hood

Where can I Find one? Does anyone even make a 1968-72 fiberglass hood. I have seen them on trucks this model before. I would love to find one I would die for a cowl hood but would settle just to find a stock one can anyone help. US Body Source have a race weight hood and is a pin on only. I am looking for bolt on hinge type. Someone told me you could use a 73-79 hood but i tried that also but the hood was about 1inch to wide on side. I have been building a 1968 ford f100 for the past 3 year and 30,000 dollars later its almost done "thank god" only thing lacking is hood and paint. My goal is to finsh it and take it the the f100 super nats in TN this year in May. If any one can point me in the right direction I would be very thankful.

usbody.com They sell hoods, fenders , and complete front ends. They are, however; not cheap.

if you look at the listings for the peices at usbodysource the left column is heavy duty parts and the right is lightweight peices and one of them does have the factory hardware mounts as an option. but like they said , pricey.

Unhappy fiberglass hood

US Body Source discontinued 67-72 heavy duty hood and Unlimited Product fiberglass only has 73-79 hood.

Wow, $400 for stock fiberglass hood from USBODY. That's fair, but after shipping, it'd be out of my price range, then I get to get it home and paint it, lovely. I wonder what the weight savings is compared to stock.

Those flared fenders are pretty sweet.

Ceet, twin turbos on your truck is good, but after reading some mags of my daughters, who is building a ricer for the track, I am impressed with people who are wringing up to 1500 hp out of a 4 cyl.

bm, to each his or her own . I hate ricers with a passion. It's not so much the car, it's the people who think they are the sweetest thing around. And who cares how fast they can get. Dollar for dollar a V8 is where it's at. You put a v8 in that lightweight of a car and it'll really do some damage. Lastly, 4 bangers will never sound good. I have NEVER heard one that sounds even as good as my 5hp brigs lawn mower. Anyone can make anything fast, no matter what it is, but why not do it with something that's not an little economy car that's not very cool.

Does anyone know the weight savings between that stock hood and usbody fiberglass?

kytrooper - do a search on here - some guys have used the 73-79 hood on their bumpsides in a custom application & it looked sweet. Food for thought.

The Subaru WRX's and STI's are 4 cyl and sound decent with the correct aftermarket exhaust. But they are the only ones I can think of. Probably the horizontal cylinders that does it.

Back on topic.
There was a vendor at the Carlisle All Truck Nationals that has fiberglass fenders and inner fenders. I can't remember if he had the hood also or not. I think he can get the hood though, if I remember correctly. I also cannot remember the vendors name and I have no clue where I put his card.
