Question Extended Warranty Advice?

I have just purchased a used Mountaineer with 45000 miles. I cannot afford
to be down or to have costly repairs, therefore I will probably purchase an
extended warranty. Does anyone have any reccomendations on which
companies or plans are good or bad? I have received quotes from
warrantywarehouse, 1sourceautowarranty, warrantycenter,
aaautowarranty, warranty direct, and a few others. Prices are similar, about
$1500 to extend 5 yrs and to 100K miles. Which ones can I trust to be there
and pay the bills without hassle? Does anyone have any experience with these?

Be very careful with aftermarket warranties. Those outfits go out of business as often as I change my socks, (Daily). Try to get one thru a dealership, and shop the dealers, because they vary in cost.

Agreed. I am extremely wary of aftermarket warranty companies. I would seriously consider a Ford ESP:

The problem with the Ford ESP is that it will not cover cars already beyond the manufacturer's warranty. An aftermarket is my only choice!

My opinion: You're better off putting the $1500 in a "car repair" savings account.
