Ford Extended Warranty vs. MPP

Is anyone familiar with the "Mechanical Protection Plan" (MPP) extended warranty service? I just purchased a new SD (350 King Ranch, DRW, LWB, V10, etc.) from a local dealer and he gave me a "deal" on an extended warranty from MPP. While MPP looks legitimate (they have a Web site and have been in business since the '70s), the warranty cost $2000 for just a 5 year/75k mile warranty with a $100 deductable. It's a pretty comprehensive warranty, but I noticed that the ford extended warranty covers everything I'd be concerned about and cost less ($1800) for 7 years/75k miles. I see a ford dealer online offering to sell the for extended warranties for 30% less than retail as well. Beyond the pricing issue, I'm suspecting that it would be easier to have claims handled under the ford warranty, so I'm starting this thread to see if anyone has had any experience with the MPP warranty program in any way. I've got 30 days to cancel it.

Thanks for any feedback.

I Bought One From Warrantybynet For My Truck, Was Called A Wrap Around Plan, Covers Everything Except For The Warranty On The Motor, Which Is Covered By Ford For 100k Miles, 0 Deductible, 5 Yr. 100k And It Was Around $1000 Dollars For It.. I Have Another Plan With Them On My Wifes Sub, So They May Have Given Me A Discount..

I would buy the Ford warranty. If Ford works like GM they should have a record of the warranty in the computer and then no matter which dealer you use it's available for confirmation.

Some don't believe in extended warranties, but if you want one, I would suggest Ford's....

And one feature I didn't know with the extended warranty is that your 3yr/36K free roadside assistance is included in the Ford extended warranty...

I would DEFINETLY talk to them about switching it over to a Ford warranty.... that's what I did and they switched it no questions asked.... (course I DID "encourage" them that I WANTED only a ford warranty ....)

I would (and did) go Ford. The top 10 after market companies as of 10 years ago are all out of business now, according to the Ford Warranty website.
