Factory Hankook (korean) tires?

Is this for real? My dad just bought an 05' F150 2wd reg cab with the V6 and it comes with 17" Hankook tires. Anybody know anything good or bad about these tires? And who builds the V6? is it new?

I know when I was stationed in South Korea a lot of cars had Hankook tires...even the non-tactical army vehicles (such as minivans, sedans, etc). No clue about their quality though.

I've got an XLT 4x4 and it has Hankooks. I kind of like them, I don't see severe mud but then again wind, rain, snow and mud doesn't stop me from chasing quail and if the truck has to go through it then it has to go through it. They ride nice and seem to handle as well as any tire I've ever had on a truck. My next tires will be light truck tires with thicker ply's and a but more aggressive tread instead of a passenger rated tire with an all terrain tire that is all terrain meaning pavement, gravel, dirt (not mud), grass and concrete.

I have a buddy that has some Hankook tires on his Chebby. They are pretty good tires, but they are kind of loud. They seem to wear pretty well and they have a pretty aggressive tread. He told me that the only thing he doesn't like about them is the road noise.

Hope this helps.

Yep, got a stripped down work truck package truck with auto and a/c. The tires throw me considering it has the work truck package.

No problems with my 17" Hankook's on my 04 XLT 4X4. Almost 10,000 miles on her already.

Has anyone seen xlt or lariat trucks from the factory equipped with the hancook tires?

But maybe Ford scored a great deal from a vendor who wanted to sell tires to new car manufacturers and who agreed to provide decent tires at a low price just to gain a foothold in the market. My experience is otherwise meaning that for instance General tires that were on low end trim vehicles that i have purchased ( whether chebby or ford) dont last past 25 to 30k miles.

Ford quit buying Firestone tires and so probably they had few choices other than trying new a new vendor(s).

I have them on my XLT Supercab. No complaints at all and I have been off-road, in snow etc.

I have the Hankook RF08 on my 04 4X4 long bed and with all the rain we've had here, it's a pretty decent rain tire. This tire also gives a good smooth ride.

My Generals lasted 56,000 before I needed a new set. They were rotated and balanced religiously, had front end aligned twice, wore evenly, mainly highway miles. NTB sold me a set of Michelins for a little cheaper than the Generals so I went with them. Looks like I will get more miles out of the Michelins than the Generals. Nothing to compalin about on either set. On my 99 Sable the last set of Generals lasted 92,000!! Bought another set just like them and they have hit 70,000 so far. No problems with either set. As usual I rotate, balance and align the front end religiously.

My F150 came with General tires. 255/70R16. Absolute garbage from new. Rotated at 5,000 and 10,000 miles. The tires were so worn at 15,000 miles they slid all over the road in the rain. I replaced them with Michelins.

General shouldn't be in the tire business and Ford should be ashamed for putting such a poor tire on a fine truck like the F150.

Generals lasting 92,000 miles? Wow, mine barely survived 15,000. General Tire must have no quality control at all.

I have the Hankook's on my 04 XLT SuperCab. 15,000 miles and smooth as silk, and still look like new. I bought an 04 Ranger, Christmas week for my oldest son. It has BF Goodrich's and after finally getting to drive it some (He went back in the Army and the truck had time to cool down) I had to replace two tires this past week. I work at a Lincoln Dealer. One tire had 48 pounds of roadforce when balanced and the other had 29 pounds. Neither would come into specs after breaking the tires down and indexing to the rims. Most of the complaints I have seen about tires on the 04 F150's have been the BF Goodrich's. I havent seen any complaints about the Hankooks.
I give the Hankooks an A+
