Ford NP435/NP205 or 203 married adapter length?
Hi guys, I'm trying to find out what is the length of the factory adapter housing that goes between an NP435 and a married NP205 or NP203 t-case in a '71-'79 Ford 4wd pickup or '78/'79 Bronco.
Also, did the NP203 come behind the NP435, or was it just the NP205 that came behind the 4-speeds? So far, the NP203 trucks I have seen have had automatics.
Thanks!

SoCal, there are 2 adapter lengths available: a 5" and a 7" (I don't remember if that's exact or rounded off). I believe the 435's TYPICALLY used the shorter 5" adapter. C6's used both. You have to check the tail shaft length to know for sure which one will work with your tranny.
I don't know if the 203 was mated with the 435 or not . . . sorry.

Thanks Ivan. That puts that decision to rest. The factory adapter would be too long for what I was wanting to do. I was trying to decide if going with a Ford 4wd 435, factory adapter housing, and married Ford 203 would be better than using a Ford 2wd 435 and popular adapter kit with special 435 output shaft and adapter housing to mate with a Dodge 203 in my NP435/NP203/Dana20 project. It's a ways off in the future, but I thought I would start researching the ins and outs now.
