K everyone i need to know what motors came in the F-series (not worried about the dieasels here) from 1980 through 1986, i also need to know when the fuel injection came in and on what motors.
this is for a isi (science) project i will be doing.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-Jun-02 AT 08:20 PM (EST)]"how do i tell if my truck is a "HD"?"
F-250 LD's were only available with the 300, 302, and 351W. If you have a 460, it's an HD. Another way to tell is HD's have full floating rear axles, LD's don't. This was true in 1986, probably the same other years.

I'm sure something bigger than the 351W was offered. I don't know if this is right, but I thought the 460 was always offered (4x2 only until the 351M and 400 died). The 351M and 400 were both discontinued at the same time around 1982.

What motors . . . .
I'll have to dig up a factory 81 manual, some 1981 ads, or an 81 with the 232, but, I'm pretty sure the 3.8 was only in trucks in 82 and 83. I do far too much research about these old trucks....

Thanks, that helps a lot. That will save me some time. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't the 300, 302, 351, and 460 the only truck motors that ford put fuel injection on?
P.S. I need to know what years fuel injection was introduced on those motors listed above. This is very important.

Yup, they'd be teh only ones that got EFI. The 302 went EFI in late 85, the 300 in 87, and the 351W and 460 in 88 or 89.

I think that the 351w and 460 had efi in 87 when ford remodeled the F series.(i know they were efi by 88 cause my dad has a 88 351w efi)

No, the 351W and 460 definatley did not go EFI in 87, I have popular mechanics articles here to prove it :-)
