Air Bag light flashing...

Flashes three times, pauses, then flashes two times. I know the flashes are usually a code to tell you what's wrong. Doesn't do it initially either, only after I've been driving a while.

Any ideas?

Does your horn and cruise control work? That is the same code I was getting and it has turned out to be the clockspring under the airbag.

Lol I haven"t gotten around to fixing mine yet. But there are plenty of instructions on this board. Just go up to the search function and type in clockspring, I think you will be surprised how many listings come up. It does not seem to be too complicated and I am planning to do mine this spring. Just be sure to disconnect your battery long enough to let the airbag mechanism discharge. As one mechanic I know said, The book calls for at least 15 minutes disconnect, he leaves it for at least an hour to be safe.

Is the water temp gauge on this same horn-air bag-cruise control circuit? Ours is 93 4.0 Ext Eddie Bauer with all digital gauges and temp bars go up & down randomly.

Yes, it could be your clockspring. Search for clockspring as suggested to get changeout info. Not real hard. The thing carries the wiring for your steering wheel mounted buttons and cruise control from the wheel to under the dash. The heart of it is a plastic ribbon with copper strips imprinted on it. Similar to a computers drive connecting cable. When it fails, it'll crack slowly and you'll lose functions depending on just which copper strip split. Shortly, all wheel mounted buttons will be inoperative. Around $90.00US new, $5-15 at boneyard. Boneyard items will not last too long cause they're just as old as yours and the plastic is probably brittle. If you pull one, have a test device with you to check continuity of the replacement. Might take a few attempts to find a good one. See if the boneyard will cross-check year and model so you can get one that is a little newer.
