2 unrelated topics .. bilstein shocks & rear axle whine
I am posting two unrelated topics. The first, is Bilstein shocks for a 04 F150 Screw, 4x4, not lifted. I looked on their website and the 04 Screw does not yet have a part number. They have part numbers are for all other 04 F-150's 4x4's. I am getting 2 different conflicting opinions. One Bilstein dealer says they have the shocks (BE5-A934-H0 and BE5-A935-H0) and these are for ALLl 04 F150s, including the Screw. Another Bilstein dealer is telling me that the Screw is heavier and Bilstein will be coming out with a Screw shock in the near future. Any help here.
Second, I had the rear axle whine, started at 10000 miles. Dealer said Ford would not authorize any work until Ford Engineering found a fix. (TSB came out last July) Called and wrote letters to Customer Relations and the dealer stating FORD needed to put in a new rear axle assembly and/or new ring & pinion gear sets (or multiple assemblies or gear sets) until Ford engineering devised a "fix." I stated that waiting indefinately was not an acceptable solution. Got my truck back yesterday. It sure is quiet ... now. If the whine comes back, I'll be back to the dealer and to Ford for a new rear end. How ever many times it needs to be done. Call, then write up the conversation ... put it all in writing. Document everything.
