redoing the bed floor... ideas?

the front 6 or so inches of my bed floor had been cancered out and the P/O's had used assorted license plates and bondo to patch it back in... i have since chopped out most of my bed floor, done a c-noch on the back and put a fuel cell in.. anyone have any ideas on how i should go about redoing the bed floor?

Adam - What kind of truck do you have? Is it a metal or wood floor.

Adam -

If you are looking to restore the truck, a donor bed would be in order, so you could graft out the floor.

With the C-notch you did, my guess is that you want something sevicable and decent looking. What about aluminum diamond plate? Very rugged and looks pretty good. If you need the bed floor to have a shape to accomodate the C-notch, the diamond plate is pretty easy to work with and very structural.

Other than that, you could just fab/patch your own steel floor. Personally, I wouldn't want to try to duplicate the floor beads, though. Too tough for me.

They sell ribbed middle sections for 67-72's that look like a close match. If you had acess to a huge metal break, you could trying makign your own floor with center hump from an 8ft late-model truck bed. There's always the wood route with metal center notch. -4speed

this truck is a custom, dont care too much about originality, as long as it looks good. ive cut all of the ridged part out of the middle and now just the flat parts fore and aft of the wheel tubs are still in it

if its really bad, it put a different box on it, or just do something fancy and replace the floor with some polished diamond plate.....of course id put a tonneau cover over it to keep it shiny....different strokes for different folks...
