About to buy a 1998 5.4L; any problems I should be aware of?

Hey guys, my name is Landon and I have a 2001 Ford F-150 4.2L and I recently got hit by an elderly handicapped woman and it did some hefty damage to my truck-$4,950.

Anyways I am looking into this 1998 F-150 with the 5.4L motor and I was wondering if I should be aware of any problems that can possibly arise with the 1998 5.4L motor. I am asking this because I know a few problems that develop in the 1997 and some 1998 4.2L motors. If you guys could give me a heads up on anything I would greatly appreciate it because I'm going to go look at the truck this weekend I think.

And here is the truck- http://www.auto-rv.com/default.asp?a...name=CH9400062

Nice looking truck, good luck with it if you get it. I had a 98 Lariat supercab with the 5.4 motor and did not have any mechanical problems with it for the 6 years that I owned it, she only had 48k when I sold it and I am very picky as far a maintenance goes. I used it as a daily driver was very comfortable to drive although gas mpg was not that good but the power and comfort made up for it. I also towed a 5000lb boat occasionally and hardly knew it was behind me. I can't think of anything negative to say about the one I had. Good Luck.
