Busa01 (Tom) "I'm Back!"

Hey all, and everyone who knows me:

I am finally back.

I had a life threatening motorcycle accident.

I've been riding my entire life and had many many crashes and they were no big deal. But the one I had on 11/27 was the one that almost did me in. My heart stopped and I was busted up like no tomorrow. My brain is just starting to come back and I'm finally back to work.

The z1000 is totalled. I'm picking up a new FZ1 today.

Hey, when you fall off the horse

However, I am incapable of riding it right now. So it will just sit and get collect dust until I'm ready.

Rman, I know I owe you my Airaid and you will have it very soon. I have to install your stock set up first.

I will post a picture of myself all busted up in the forum soon. I hope you will enjoy it.

My tip (I've been riding 20 years) always wear a helmet and don't ride even if you only had 1 beer: tough for you Harley guys out there huh? Ha, just wait !

WELCOME BACK TOM!
I tried calling a phone number provided via e-mail. This was yesterday. I got an answering machine but didn't leave a message.
Hate to hear of your crash but glad you survived.
Not to be morbid, but because I do ride often - I'd like to know what happened.
Please don't tell me you were without a helmet!!

I was riding with a guy on The Tail of the Dragon who had a spanking new Z1000. 700 miles on it and not even a tag yet. He wadded it up pretty bad, but he was lucky - no injuries.

Glad to have you back.
Did you see my post? I bought a new '05 w/ 4.2 (kept the 2000.)

Brian,

I saw no new posts yet. Thanks for the sentiment.

Actually, I was wearing full leathers but only a half helmet, which did me no good at all. it was my face that took all the beating. Half and 3/4 helmets don't do anything. If it's not a full face, then forget it.

My whole front face split open, broke my nose, damaged all my spinal ligements and broke alot of bones. They even removed my galbladder. I guess i came up and wacked it on the tank.

Unfortunately, I don't remember anything about the day of the accident so I'm just going off about 100 different reports I've read from various doctors. My heart did stop and the cops left me there to die.

The Fire rescue crew brought me back though, I wish I knew who they were.

I was doing about 65 off an exit ramp from the main highway and came into traffic. I locked the back brake up and saw alot of grass off this ramp so I went for it. My front tire hit a sink whole and flipped the bike many times. My face hit everything available.

If it aint a full face then don't even bother wearing it. There is no helmet law in Florida, so you see alot of guys with no shirts, flip flops, shorts and little glasses with no helmets. They will die soon, it's just a matter of time.

As far as white lights and gates are concerned, this is not NBC or CBS. There are no white lights or anything. when you die, you die. and that's it.

I should be picking up that Yamaha FZ1 today and I will be wearing my full face and leathers from here on out, believe me. Cause you just never know.

I did love the Z though. It was a really comfortable bike but know it's gone. The FZ1 should be even better though. Yesterday, I sat on 100 different cruisers and they just arent for me at all. I can't see myself on one and have no desire to ride one.

I'm glad to hear that you're still with us Tom! The bike can be replaced, you can't! It's a shame that things like this have to happen to remind us of the things that we know we should have done in the first place. I hope you're able to get back on a bike again soon.

oh hell yeah dude!

I called your home(?) the other day and spoke to john, left a message with him. When I emailed you at work, and got your autoreply, I was like "uh oh...." but after more and more time passed by I started to really wonder if you were okay.

I'm really glad you made, as are the rest of us. As far as the airaid is concerned, i'm not really worried too much about it. Take your time!

Welcome back! Let the nonsense resume!!!!

and joe, thanks for thinking of me. but lets not forget about homer, he's a goof too

Tom, glad to see you are back on your feet and recovering. That's great!

How long do you think it will be before you try to get your truck stuck up in some mud somewhere?

Guys!!!!!

Thanks for everyones comments !

guess what?

I just bought another bike yesterday.....ha!!

A Yamaha FZ1000, yep I'll never stop til' i'm dead...hee hee. It's true though.

A friend of mine drove it home for me though. I haven't ridden it yet.

I have several appointments at various sergions this morning so I had to take the day off. I'm going to try to take it around the block today though.

Go to Yamaha's site and check it out if you want. It's a supersport bike and it's the FZ1 in blue.

I just have to always wear my gear when I ride that's all. And no drinking at all, even if it's only one beer or a glass of wine...nothing to impare my judgement.

Again,

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate everything.

I'll be back.

Now that sounds like a plan man! Good decision if you ask me.

You'll be rippin' up the roads again in no time man!
