Bent Bumpers??

Bent Bumpers??
Does anyone else have a front bumper that is bent up (looks like its going uphill). Mine is, and I've noticed more and more trucks like mine (92-96 bodystyle) that are the same. What is it that bends? the bumper itself? How can I fix this without getting a new bumper?

There are two brackets attached to the bumper that, in turn, are attached to the frame. These brackes have probably taken a bump at some time causing them to bend in slightly. You can remove the bumper and the brackets and try to hammer them back into shape, or insert some type of spacers between them and the bumper to bring it back into the right position.

One thing about the 92-96 front bumpers is they don't bolt directly to the frame and they arn't designed to be strong. They are designed to absorb impact from a crash. I got in a little fender bender with my 95 F150 and they bend down at the back. I like the older design of the 80-86 that bolts directly to the frame rails. Also the 92-96 has the crumple zone on the frame for more crash protection. Fred
