I have a 49' Ford F1 and I am missing the right front brake drum. What years or models of cars are interchangeable? I'd rather get a used drum than pay full price for a new one, but I don't know which vehicles use the same drum. Any suggestions? Thank alot.
Looks like a 1948 - 1952 F1 has the same front hub. The larger trucks are different. My Truck Chasis Parts Catalog covers 1948 - 1952 so a newer model may fit. The part number back then was 8C 1125-A and shows the drum has an 11" ID.
SPTRACKS, Ford changed the front drums in '53 for the 1/2 ton. The dia and width is the same (11" x 2"), but the center offset is different. The rear drums stayed the same for many more years. I'm not sure when they changed. ...Terry
The rears were the same 48-67. Fronts were unique 48-52 only as reported above. I've heard of guys using a later 60-something 11 x 2 1/2" drum on the fronts - the extra 1/2" makes up for the offset. Might be worth checking out. Wear spec is 11 + .060"
I still have the front drums off my 51 from when I converted to discs. Not sure of the condition at the moment but if you need me to find out let me know.
I also have new front wheel cylinders, and shoes.
