F250 Superduty 2WD Wheel Bearings

Alright...the last time i repalced my front rotors on my 2wd superduty, i packed the front bearings, replaced the bearing races and wheel seals and when i torqued them, i ran the the nut snug...probally to about 50lbs of torque, backed off till loose, the back to about 20lbs (roughly). So my two questions are 1) how close was i on the seating/ torquing specs, and 2) how often should the front bearings be re-packed? Currently i have about 25,000 since i replaced the rotors.

Thanks for the replys!

Just curious why you replaced the races and not the bearing too? I repacked mine at around 60K and now have 128k. Guess I better do it again??

I just did mine and the inner seal lip was just a hair too large to hold the seal. I had to tweak the seal a litlle to get it to hold. Has anyone else run into this?
I'll probably have to buy a new hub/rotor soon if the seal doesn't hold.

I probabally should have replaced the bearings too, but at the time, they seemed to be in excellent shape while the races were just slightly pitted....any ideas on the correct torque specs???

From the Haynes Repair Manual

Step 1: Torque to 21 ft/lbs while turning the wheel in the forward direction.

Step 2: Back off 1/2 turn.

Step 3: Re torque to 18 INCH/lbs.

Just redid mine and this works perfectly.

I'm in the middle of doing my ball joints and bearings tonight.

I didn't have that large a socket for my lil torque wrench - so i did a test, with the lil one set at 18 INCH.lb. It's as tight I can turn a large socket with my bare hand and greasy fingers. Clean hands got me between 20 and 21 INCH.lb

Hope this helps. :-)
