Windshield washer switch removal
Hi All:
Just bought a 1986 Ford F-150 for me and the son to work on. Bit of a project vehicle.
First things first, is there some special tool or technique for removing the windshield washer switch without taking the whole dash off? Mine is bad (it keeps going after you turn it off) and obviously needs to be replaced.
Thanks,
Joe Collins

Make a hooked tool to depress the catch on the wiper **** to release it from the switch shaft. Also, I would try the switch first, but there is a chance it could be the wiper motor. It has a cam switch built into the motor, and there is a hot wire going to the motor at all times. This feature lets you kill power to the wipers with the dash switch, with the wipers in any position, and they will follow through their stroke until they get to the "park" position. If something fouls the cam switch in the motor, they could possibly run all the time.

To narrow it down some;
Unplug the govenor from the circuit completely. plug the switch into the wiring harness. If your problem goes away you have some sort of internal short in the govenor. As I said earlier if the interval is no big deal it wiil be alot cheaper to get a switch for the 2 speed wipers.(hi/low)

All of the functions work both ways except that the silly thing cycles on its own once every minute or so. Any ideas?
I have a 2 speed switch in there now and it seems to work fine and it'll have to do until I can find another controller to swap it out with.
Thanks,
Joe Collins
