How to clean a Mass Air Flow Sensor?
#2
I clean MAF sensors every day here at the Chevy dealership I work at. I use GM brake cleaner spray. I wouldn't use any other brand of brake cleaner because EVERY other kind I've used evaporates as slow as diesel fuel and leaves an oily film. GM brake cleaner evaporates immediately and leaves no film....just don't inhale the fumes..WOWEE!! Don't use a q-tip or other solid object to clean them. The wires are very delicate and if they break...$$$$. Just spray brake cleaner on the wires, let it dry, then reinstall.

Actually, I'm cleaning up a mess that was left behind as the result of a failed internal seal on a supercharger that allowed oil from the gear case on the supercharger to be forced through a vent tube that is connected to the air filter housing. Needless to say, my air filter was suturrated and a little oil managed to make it through the filter and it looks like it got on the mass air sensor. I'll try the brake cleaner, I have some quick evaporating stuff at the house already, it's not GM though. Just as info, it's a 71,000 mile 2001 F250 V10 with a Kenne Bell blower.
