i havent done it, but have looked into it and I want to do it... I bought the haynes manual and it shows step by step how to take the dash apart, remove the guages and open and replace... If you are patient and have the tools, I dont think its that bad. I would guess you could have it apart and back together within 3 hours, taking your time and doing it properly.

I put one in my 2000. Really easy to do, just remember where all your needles were before you took them off and you should be alright. I let the truck warm up first and used my dig camera to take a picture of where the needles were. The speed needle was the hard on to get on right. I never got it right. I got it about 1-2 mph off. You can always do the digital read out trick to get your tach right. Good luck.
