Smile Driveline u-joints,whats the best?

Hi guys,first time on this forum,this forum ROCKS!!!!.I've been reading alot of posts on here and all posts help me solve my problems,and i say it again THIS FORUM ROCK!!!!!!!.
I have a 97 F-150 4.6 4X4 manual trans. with 75,000 miles on it.My question is what u-joints are the best?I want the ones that don't need to put grease in them and where do you guys buy them autozone,checkers,napa etc..Thanks for your help.

I would check them all. Not sure if you will find replacement joints that are sealed unless you get them from the dealer, but I could be wrong, it has happened before, just ask my wife.

You can get the sealed units at any driveline shop (yellow pages, or a stop at a local speed shop), and most times $20 will get them installed for you.

I'd go with the sealed unit as I had the expensive greaseable spicers on mine for a while untill they ran dry becuase I couldn't get a grease gun on them due to the design of my drive shaft.

Sealed tie rod ends and such usually work out well, but not necessarily so with u-joints. You need to get a greasable u-joint with the grease zerk located such that you can get at it.

Some joints have the fitting in the middle of the cross and others have it in one of the caps. You can almost always get to it if it is in one of the caps.

Due to the nature of a u-joint and its assembly it is difficult to get a sealed unit in place with enough grease to make it long term.
