Is Pennzoil synthetic any good ?

I agree the inexpensive house brand oil filter belongs on your suspect list, so it's easy enough to stop by WallyWorld & pick up the specified Motorcraft filter & qt of top off oil, replace the suspect & see how it goes.
Did they use the specified viscosity oil for this engine???

long story short i have never had any bad luck with the cheap filters. the problem iv found is that one time i rode with my dad when he took his truck to jiffy lube is that they bring the oil up from downstairs in white plastic jugs so you never really know what they're putting in. they SAY its full synthetic but if they told me wolverines made good house pets i still wouldn't believe them.

Pennzoil use to be parrafin based, and YES it would destroy engines inside. I use to tear apart engines when they came into the machine shop and right away could tell if Pannzoil was used(or any other parrafin based oil)...so NO his mech is NOT an idiot, but is probably just not up to speed. I want to say it was late 90's early 2000's when they wen to PURE base.
