Did they use the specified viscosity oil for this engine???
Im going to confess something, i have a small one car garage and i have my mustang stored in there so my work space is the driveway and during the winter months i always seem to contract a case of lazyassatossis and take my truck to a quick lane but i prefer valvoline.

long story short i have never had any bad luck with the cheap filters. the problem iv found is that one time i rode with my dad when he took his truck to jiffy lube is that they bring the oil up from downstairs in white plastic jugs so you never really know what they're putting in. they SAY its full synthetic but if they told me wolverines made good house pets i still wouldn't believe them.

In any event, your engine's issues aren't related to the oil in use. You'd do best to simply post the symptoms in the correct forum for your truck for assistance.
Pennzoil use to be parrafin based, and YES it would destroy engines inside. I use to tear apart engines when they came into the machine shop and right away could tell if Pannzoil was used(or any other parrafin based oil)...so NO his mech is NOT an idiot, but is probably just not up to speed. I want to say it was late 90's early 2000's when they wen to PURE base.

Sigh....

It's "paraffinic", not "paraffin". Know the difference...
