I have a 1985 F250 4x4. The front axle is an IFS Dana 44 on leaf springs. I can find all kinds of straight axle kits for 150's. However, I can not find any info for a F250.
I think I can get away with an axle with the same distance between spring mounts. But, what would I have to do as far as steering modifications if any? If anyone has done this before, please let me know what I need to do.

Its a bolt in swap using compoents from a 85.5-98 ford 1 ton 4x4's dana 60. Should only take a person a few hours to do too. But beware this ain't cheap either, and they are hard to find as well. If you can get a front dana 60 from one of these trucks be sure to get theTie rods (not all that necessary but its worth it for the spare), trac bar and trac bar bracket, pitman arm (it has a lower drop as compared to yours), if you want some lift use the leafs as well, and it wouldn't hurt to grab the driveshaft as well.

If you search in the offroad forum there is tons of info on this type of swap, (do a search for SAS) as there are a few guys in there that have done this and a lot more who want too.

If you are a very good at fabing and playing with gears (setting them up, etc) I can tell you how to make FRONT and rear 9" differentials for reasonably cheap (front diff would not be meant for a DD though), but its a lot of work and its what i'm doing for my 81 f-250 bogger.
