under coating

is it a good idea to go ahead and under coat my truck with rubberized under coating it looks like a good idea but im not sure i want to seal the whole underside of the truck

I hear if its done right it is a good idea, however if its done wrong it can make things worse. I just bought a 1979 F-100 one owner and he had Ziebart or some such company undercoat it the day he bought it and the underside has NO rust on it. Some of the undercoating has flaked off now, after 25 years and the paint is still shiny on the bottom of the floor etc.
