Which tunner to use

Hey everybody,

Wanted to get some opinions on what tunners you guys are using. I am considering the Banks 6gun, and thought I would see if everyone is happy with this or not. Let me know, thanks.

I've got the SCT Xcalibrator and love it. On economy mode, the truck drives around like it should of when it came from the factory. Power and fuel mileage. On Performance it will burn the tires off

Which tunner to use

I went with the Predator. After reading and comparing I made my discussion on the ability to download program updates myself. I did not want to send the tuner back to the manufacture every time there was a update.

I have been running the economy program for 2 weeks. The jury is not in yet on how it works. I can tell a difference in power. The only concerns I have is the shifting seems to be very hard with getting on it.

I will be towing with it tomorrow night So we will see how it goes. I am going to pull with it in economy mode. I will only be pulling a 6K stock trailer and 2 feeder steers (another 1K). The real test will be when I drop in the towing mode and pull the 17K of hay. : >

What ever one you decide on SUPPORT or advertisers !

Check out the SCMT 1704. Great shifting, simply unreal power in the economy mode and readily available by next day delivery from MotorHaven..

Once you load the tuner, you will NEVER want to drive the 6.0 in stock trim again.....

Good Luck with your decision.
Please consider supporting MotorHaven as they support this site.

Welcome to the "Predator Grin" club, Bralos

If yours is not shifting like it should... two things to ensure
1) make sure you have the latest version of the predator software and
2) go thru the tranny relearn process in the Tech thread at the beginning of this forum...

My 03 shifts better than stock with all that power !

I would go Superchips.
Edge and Banks are tough on the tranny.
And some "rumor" that the Predator has some tune problems. But many are happy with the Predator here.

I just recently got the latest flash from Ford. It is a major improvement
from the Oct 03 flash. I have not tried using my Predator tuner yet with
this flash. Will I need to get the latest calibration from Diablo or just load
and and have the Predator ?

You WILL need to get the latest flash downloaded before using with the new truck flash....
and understand there is a new predator release coming out soon that is supposed to fix an issue if you remove the speed limiter with the new flash... so don't remove the speed limiter yet...
After all, our tires are not up to the 140+mph the predator can push us to !!!1

If u got a laptop, don't bother with the power supply, just get the serial cable.... was much easier with the laptop in the truck....

(and my wife just forced me to get her a laptop - Office Depot had a BYO 1.3 GHz for $499 !!!!! - faster and a 2/3rd's cheaper than mine !!!!)

the predator is easy to use and gives major power improvments.

Here's all you'll need to do it -
http://www.diablosport.com/Downloads...2003-05%206.0L

I downloaded the loader, the tune (crom) file, and the instructions to my desktop and then went out to the truck with the instructions open on the top half of the screen and the loader on the bottom half - easy to do !
