Question what engine can I put in my truck

I'm looking for some advice on changing the engine in my 1994 F-150,4x4,automatic. It currently has a 302, 5.0 . What I need to know is, what other motor would fit. Can I use a an engine out of a car? And if so, what engine? If not what year truck engine could I use ( from what year to what year?)

What is your goal.

A regular 302 will fit without any modification. A 302HO or 351W will fit if you change computers and exhaust, and a 300/6 will fit if you chagne the motor stands, exhaust and computer. A 460 will require a different tranny, mounts, stands, headers, computer, and radiator.

Thanks for the info! The reason I want to change the 302 engine is that, in the past few years I've had several problems with knocking motors (90 Ford Bronco, 2- 94 F-150'), all had the 302. I was told that a 302, out of a car, would not fit because the block and the front of the engine is the opposite of a truck engine?!???!?!?!? One more question for you..... If I go witht he 351W, will I have to change the electric fuel pump as well? Any help you can give is appreciated!!!!!

I believe the fuel pumps are the same. Car and truck 302s are the same, except car motors had a front sump oil pan.
