What is a good trailer hitch, that not to hard to put on and look real nice. FX4 didn't come with the towing package.

You could buy one from Ford, and know it will fit. Reese also makes good hitches that fit well and are reasonalbly priced.

If you are going to tow, put on a trans oil cooler also.

Don't all trucks come with a trans oil cooler? I think the only difference in the tow package, is that you get a bigger one.

Actually, the trans oil cooler only comes with the towing package. Along with it and the Class IV receiver, you also get a heavier battery, upgraded radiator, 4-pin and 7-pin connections, and interface for electric trailor brakes. For $350, it's probably the biggest bargain Ford offers.

my truck actually came with a trans cooler and i do not have the tow package. Check out hidden hitch receivers. I put one on my truck not long after i bought it and the fit was great. You cannot see much of it at all from the back of the truck. This is a real good investment. Good Luck

I have a Screw 4x4 with 18"ers on it. It came with the Tow pkg so the reciever is there. Question: How much of a drop should I get on the bar to set the ball at the right height? I will be towing a boat.

Thanks.

On my '04 FX4 with 18" tires I had to use a 4" drop to get it right for my boat with has 14" tires on the trailer

I have the towing package as well, but I'm not sure what you mean by "interface for electric trailor brakes". Isn't that some sort of control mounted in the dash? I don't think I have that...

That little cooler is for your power steering. The Trailer package adds a BIG cooler in front of the A/C, right at the bottom of the hood opening.

yeah the power steering cooler is a small cooler, about what you described, and the trans cooler is right in front of the radiator. it is probably about 4" tall and about 2'-0" long. It is rather large, i can post a picture if you like, but like i said my truck didn't have the towing package and mine came with both coolers. If this is unusual i wonder if my truck also came with the larger alternator, radiator, & etc.... Hmmm.
