Wally World to stop selling Motorcraft products soon
As posted over at BITOG, apparently Wal-Mart is dropping the Motorcraft line from their automotive department. You might want to pickup a couple of extra filters or quarts of oil the next time you visit.
This doesn't surpise me. 70% of Wal Mart's products are now being manufactured in China, so its no wonder they haven't pushed them out already. I've never been one of the bumper sticker screamers yelling to only buy American, but Sam would roll over in his grave if he knew what his children have let Wal Mart become.
I guess I will have to help them empty their shelves, because if they stop selling them, it will be the last thing I buy there.
I highly doubt that this will happen, I remember hearing this very same statment well over a year ago.
Not to mention that there is not any shred of concrete evidence in that BITOG thread, just a bunch of rumors.
If anything it is an regional stocking issue, much like the reasons you see a lot more highway tires in a Florida Walmart vs the amount of highway tires in a northern state store.

Wal-Mart uses some odd tactics to lure you and I into thier stores, and i hope more people start to realize. I was show by a local landscaper 2 identical...identical bottles of weed killer. The one bought at a feed store, the other from Wal-Mart.. I mean exactly the same media all over the bottle, except the main ingrediant of the wal-Mart one had 18% active, where the feed store had 77% active ingrediants. Only way they found out was because it didnt work as it should. I also can say, I bought a TV there a few years ago, and on the front showed a place for 2 speakers, 1 on each side. I was listening one day, when my hearing came back to me, and i thought it sounded odd. I removed the cover and there was only 1 speaker there.
I only ask this...something has to give to make a product cheaper...is it quality? Are you 100% sure that the Motorcraft oil and filters are exactly the same as what a parts store/Ford offers? Just like the weedkiller and my TV, both were thought to be all that, but they were not.

I don't think it's a regional stocking issue or a rumor. I casually mentioned this to a auto dept. "supervisor" at my local WW and he told me that they were told to start reducing the amount of shelf space for Motorcraft as they would not be re-stocking whatever was sold.
I asked if I could get a deal on their remaining FL820S filters, and he said "sure, all you want for $2.97 apiece"
The way I understand WW works is every year they renegotiate with their suppliers. At that time the supplier must either improve the product for the same price or lower the price of the product. So if it's true about Motorcraft, then it may be that the last Motorcraft wholesaler big enough to supply that market has finally said "enough!"
How do you know the filter that you buy at the parts store and/or Ford are as good a quality as the Wally filter?
Two-way street.
>price does not necessarily equal >quality
I myself am not 100% sure, maybe it is the same, maybe it isnt. But if you look to Wal-Mart for top quality....keep looking. Get me some of that Tech 2000 oil and a Tech oil filter. 5qts later and 3 bucks change from a 10, now thats healthy. Just like my TV....with only 1 speaker, which wouldnt bother me if it only had a place for one speaker, but it doesnt. And with my mother being a store manager....i know much more. Only reason i respect WW is because they have given my mother a paycheck for the last 11 years...

I doubt if the Motorcraft Oil is really something else. But one does have to think about the quality of xyz that one is purchasing in Wally World or guess anywhere else.
Recently I need to replace a section of garden hose. WW had "light duty" hose for $3.98. I could have put a hole in the hose with my fingernail. A better buy would be a $12.00 hose that will last a few years. But if one needed a hose for a special short term project and then it would get discarded it might be a good value.
Each purchase needs to be examined with an eye toward value.

I just got back from my local Walmart. I asked the auto counter guy and he confirmed no more Motorcraft. He said that Ford was cutting them off because they sell it too cheap so nobody is going to Ford and buying the oil and filters. I bought the last 2 cases of 5W-20 and 8 FL-820s filters.

I would not be concerned with your TV missing a speaker. More than likely, the TV manufacturer used the same cabinet for different models. The stereo models use both speaker locations, obviously your model doesn't have stereo.
